Dear Staff Applicants,
I want to take this advanced moment to say "Thank you". I know that by simply even applying as a staff member, you are showing a willingness to serve our youth.
One of the most important things we look for in a staff applicant is not only someone who wants to be a part of SCYC, but someone who is prepared to be a part of SCYC.
The week we spend at Bandina is not about us, the staff. It is about the campers. All of the hard work and dedication that is put into camp is meant to nurture and grow the faith of the campers.
So please know that the staff selection process is not about fulfilling the wants and desires that we may have, but about fulfilling what is most productive and beneficial for our campers.
To serve on the staff of SCYC is not merely an opportunity, but an extraordinary privilege that is earned and deserved the whole year through. If we, as staff members, are not consistently learning and growing in faith, how can we expect to set the needed example we are called to?
"Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1
Whether you are chosen to serve SCYC this summer or not, we want you to be living a life that leads others to Christ. Perhaps you are ready to serve, or perhaps this will be a call to change. Either way, you will be in our prayers. We look forward to serving with many of you soon.
In His Service,
SCYC Session Director
